Disability Board
Appointed By:
Two Council representatives are appointed by the City Manager. Fire and Police Department representatives are elected by Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Fighters (LEOFF I) members in their respective departments. The Board elects a Member at Large.
Length of Term:
Fire Department representatives are elected in February of even years for two years. Police Department representatives are elected in February of odd years for two-year terms. The board elects a Member at Large for an indefinite term.
Meetings:
Last Wednesday of each month from 10:30 - noon in the small conference room at City Hall.
Duties:
Administers State RCW's regarding LEOFF I members.
What they accomplish:
Consider and approve medical bills submitted by LEOFF I members. Consider applications for disability retirement together with documentation of disability. Confirm disability with Board physician. Place members on disability leave. Grant disability retirement and so advise the State Retirement System and the City’s appropriate departments.
