Downtown Advisory Committee

Length of term:
Committee members shall serve for a term of three years. There shall be no limitation on reappointments of committee members.

A committee member designated as a "youth member" shall be appointed for a term of office that expires on May 31 of the year of such member's graduation from high school or community college, and a replacement committee member shall be appointed effective on October 1 of such year to serve until May 31 of the year of such member's graduation from high school or community college.

Meetings:
Minimum of quarterly meetings, with exact date/time/ location to be determined by Downtown Advisory Committee members and by-laws.

Composition of Members:
Each member of said committee shall be a resident of the city of Longview, or shall own/manage or operate a business within the Downtown Commerce district of the city. Business and property entities shall, at all times, comprise a majority of the total membership. In the selection of committee members, each member shall be designated as meeting one of the following qualifications for membership.

Responsibilities:
The committee shall serve as the primary group to recommend implementation of the prioritized strategies and goals that are described in the Longview Downtown Plan. The committee shall encourage, conduct, sponsor or co-sponsor public programs for the benefit of the city to further the development and public awareness of events and happenings in the downtown area. The Committee will also assist in furthering the economic vitality of the Downtown Commerce district of the city. The committee shall be a central body to whom parties interested in economic development and advancement of the Downtown Commerce district may come for information or assistance.
