Longview Housing Authority

Appointed By: Mayor of Longview.
Length of term: 5 years
Meetings: 4th Monday of the month at 1207 Commerce Ave., unless advertised differently.

Duties:
Enacts policies and procedures to be administered by the executive director and staff. Reviews and approves financial auditing reports of program activities. Provides oversight and direction for the planning of future activities. Provides these services to most of a three-county area -- Cowlitz, Pacific and Wahkiakum -- excluding the cities of Kelso and Kalama.

What they accomplish:
The mission of the Longview Housing Authority is to “promote opportunities for people who experience barriers to housing because of income, disability, or special needs in an environment which preserves personal dignity and encourages self-sufficiency.”

This results in administration of the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program (rental assistance) to low-income families of our service area, with provision for chronic mentally ill and other special housing needs as they may arise.
