2012 Tasaka family from Wako Japan visits Longview
Many thanks to Barbara Lancaster for hosting our Wako visitors.
Residents from Longview's Japanese sister city enjoy last few days in America – TDN 7/10/12
From Sister City Commission member Barbara Lancaster and her husband Randy:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank some special people who help make the Tasaka’s first visit to America and Longview/Kelso a great success.
I would like to thank Leslie Slape (with TDN) for a very nice article and the time she took to get to know them. Bill Wagner what a wonderful photo, you captured Toshi's personality perfect.
I would also like to thank Firefighter Kole Myklebust with Station 81, 740 Commerce for allowing us to “drop in”. What a wonderful tour you gave. Sasuke the 4 year old was so impressed along with his parents with your kindness. The firefighter hats you gave the children will always be a great treasure.
I would also like to thank the Sister City members for making our lunch and City Hall tour so much fun. Susie Meyers did a wonderful job with the tour. Lars and Keiko Pedersen thank you for translating and helping Yuri who wasn’t feeling well that day. Mayor Weber thank you for the Sister City Proclamation and Tom Hutchinson for stepping in to present it to Toshi.
And finally thank you Tom Rozwod for a setting up a wonderful tour of NORPAC.
The Tasaka family, Toshi, Yuri, Sasuke and Sasara were so impressed with their trip and very sad to leave but have already started planning another visit.
Thank you all for your support with the Longview / Wako Sister City.
