Zoning Code Update – Longview Municipal Code Title 19
The City is undertaking a major evaluation of its zoning code, including the City’s subdivision regulations. The process is expected to be complete by the end of 2009. The last encompassing evaluation and update of the City’s zoning and subdivision regulations was completed in 1967, 40 years ago.
The Comprehensive Plan’s Chapter 10 identifies the action plan, objectives, and recommendations for when the zoning code revisions should be accomplished.
The City of Longview Planning Commission is responsible for guiding the update process. The City has contracted with the Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Council of Governments to provide planning assistance for this project. Steve Langdon, Longview’s Principal Planner, is the project manager. As draft code sections are developed and approved for release by the Planning Commission, they will be posted on this site. Periodically, the City will hold public hearings or other public events to inform the public and receive comments. Announcements of these events will also be posted on this site.
Public Hearing - The Longview Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the draft Residential Code Update. The hearing will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 7:00pm in the Longview Council Chambers at City Hall, 1525 Broadway.
