Mayor
Kurt Anagnostou Term of Service: 1/1/2000 - 12/31/2011
I was born here in Longview May 6, 1959. My father, Harold Anagnostou was a native of this area. He and his siblings grew up in Kelso. He went into the Navy in 1942 when he was only 17 and was taught to be an electrician. He returned after the war, married my mother, his High School sweetheart, and started a family. I have six siblings all of whom were born here in Longview. I have five sisters and one brother. I am the second youngest with one younger sister. Three sisters, my brother and (of course) myself still live in this community. I also have cousins, aunts, nieces and nephews that live here. The Longview area is my family's home.
My father worked for most of the local mills as an electrician. That included Weyerhaeuser, Reynolds Aluminum, Fibre and Crown Zeller Bach (which is now the Wauna plant). He went to a Antioch, California to work in a Crown Zeller Bach plant there and retired there after 20 years. I attended Antioch High and graduated in 1977. I then attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Ca. where I graduated with a BA in 1981. I then attended McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, Ca. where I graduated with a JD in 1985. I have passed the Bar exam and am licensed to practice law in Ca. and Wa. states and licensed in the Federal Courts.
I returned to Longview and became employed with Joe Daggy in 1987. He and I formed Daggy and Anagnostou, P.S. a professional services corporation. We provide assistance with a wide variety of legal matters including personal injury, wrongful death, estate planning and litigation , wills, business law, contract disputes, real estate, bankruptcy, divorce, child custody and other general civil maters. We do not practice criminal law. I am a past president of the Cowlitz Wahkiakum Bar association and a current board member. I have successfully argued cases before division two of the Washington State Court of Appeals and The Supreme Court of Washington. I thoroughly enjoy my practice of law.
I was married on December 15 1990 to the love of my life, Debbie. We have three sons: Alexander 13, Sammy 11 and Kaleb 6. I am involved in their education, sports and extracurricular activities. I have the greatest kids. They are involved (which means I am involved) in baseball, football, soccer, wrestling, Boy Scouts, violin, church youth group, school work and programs and friends. In addition I am a long time member of the Pioneer Lions club, Longview Sandbaggers and St. Rose Knights of Columbus. And did I mention the small business my wife and I own - two small multi-unit apartments? All that and the duties of a councilperson means I keep busy which keeps me out of trouble.
