Illegal to discharge firearms in the City
The City of Longview would like to remind residents that it is illegal to discharge a firearm or an air gun within the city. The offenses are considered a gross misdemeanor, punishable by up to 365 days in jail and/or $5,000 fine. You may view the full legal text online for Discharging Firearms (LMC 9.32.020) and Unlawful Use of Air Guns (LMC 9.32.060). Discharge of any other type of weapon within the City may also be considered a violation of the crime of Reckless Endangerment, found under LMC 9.12.020, which adopts the state statute RCW 9A.36.050 (also a gross misdemeanor).

Statements of qualifications being sought for the redesign of the Mint Farm Industrial Park website
The City of Longview is looking for qualified web designers to create a re-design of the Mint Farm Industrial Park web site. Proposals are due to the City of Longview by 4 p.m. on February 17, 2009.

Remember to register with FEMA if you had damage from the January floods
Just a reminder for Longview residents who were affected by the January flooding that Cowlitz County has been added to the major disaster declaration for the State of Washington. This disaster declaration qualifies Cowlitz County for individual assistance as a result of the flooding.
If you had water or flood damage from the storms that began on January 7, 2009…please register with FEMA! The registration period is only open until March 30, 2009. Please remember, if you do not register, you will not get assistance. Citizens can register with FEMA three different ways:
- Call toll-free from 8a-8p daily at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362)
- Go online to www.disasterassistance.gov
- Register in person at the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC), 1942 1st Avenue in Longview. The DRC will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
