Recycling brochure updated
The Recycling and Solid Waste Division announces the release of a new recycling brochure for residents. This informative and colorful publication focuses on current recycling issues and what we can do to reduce recycling contamination in our community. The brochure also discusses what items are recyclable, “grass-cycling” and “e-cycling,” and answers to lots of frequently asked questions.

Recycling and Solid Waste changes to be considered by Council
Longview City Council will hear several ordinances at the July 23 meeting that relate to solid waste and recycling issues. Among the items being considered are:
- Updating of the Longview Municipal Code to reflect the addition of recycling and requirements of businesses and residents in the use of garbage and recycling in the city.
- Expanding the recycling carts-for-tubs program citywide, with the exception of multifamily complexes, effective November 1, 2009 if approved.
- Enacting new recycling enforcement legislation, effective January 1, 2010 if approved.
- Making amendments to Waste Control contracts including extending contract #3 by five years, amending vehicle life expectancy/replacement time, and adjusting contract provisions regarding physically disabled residents.

Summer Concert at the Lake this Thursday evening
Enjoy free, live music for the entire family on Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. at Martin’s Dock in Lake Sacajawea Park. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic dinner for this fun family event. Food service is also available. The July 23 performers are The Beatniks, definitive 60s/70s Rock ‘n Roll.
