One “pack” makes a difference
City of Longview employees are collecting “backpacks” to donate to the local schools. The packs will be handed out to children unable to afford the cost of buying new supplies and a pack for the next school year. We want to make the difference in the lives of our children – one pack, one child. You can go to the website at www.longview.k12.wa.us/supply%20lists.html to obtain the list of supplies needed for each pack or to see how you can participate. Once you fill the pack with the needed supplies, please tag for the grade and school to which you are donating. The pack(s) will be collected at the Executive Department at City Hall. For those who are unable to purchase the entire backpack with supplies, even bringing in Kleenex, erasers, glue sticks, sharpened #2 pencils, small scissors, binders, etc. will help. These loose items can be dumped into the community classroom supply box. This gives everyone the opportunity to help our young students! On August 24, we will gather the packs at the City, count them, and deliver them to the appropriate school. On August 27, we will announce at the City of Longview Council meeting the number of packs we were able to gather for the children! Thanks in advance for helping our local kids!
