Stay Fire Smart! Don’t Get Burned!
The Longview Fire Department will host its annual Open House on Saturday, October 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Open House is LFD’s signature fire prevention event that provides not only fire and life safety information through several scheduled activities, but also provides information and experience about other participating agencies like American Medical Response, Underwriters Laboratories, Search & Rescue and Dive Team, Safe Kid’s Coalition, and many others. There will be activities for both adults and children such as the Jr. Firefighter Nozzle Practice, Fire Extinguisher Training, Rope Rescue Display, and more. The Longview Fire Department hopes to see you there and reminds you to “Stay Fire Smart! Don’t Get Burned.”

Drop off unused and unwanted prescription drugs at Longview Police Department
On September 28, the Longview Police Department began providing a safe and environmentally friendly way to dispose of unwanted and unused prescriptions properly. Project D.U.M.P (Dispose of Unused Medications Properly) is a collaboration between law enforcement, parents, and prevention professionals in hopes of reducing the accessibility youth have to prescription drugs within the homes of friends and family. It also takes steps towards reducing the impacts pharmaceuticals have on our environment and drinking water. Unused medications can be taken to the Longview Police Department at 1359 Hudson St. from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
More information: Contact the Longview Police Department at 442-5800.
