    What is USSSA?
It is the largest adult slow pitch softball program in the state. USSSA has 3,000 adult teams compared with 1,500 for ASA and 500 in NSA. It is the only sanction that has a full time state office open year round so you can always reach someone.

How long has USSSA been around?
USSSA is 36 years old and has grown from 50 teams from 15 states in 1968 to over 100,000 teams from all 50 states. At Roy Morse Park USSSA softball was held for 14 years before going to NSA for the past seven years.

    What does USSSA stand for?
United States Specialty Sports Association which was called United States Slow Pitch Softball Association before 1997.

How will USSSA affect league play?
You may not notice much change in league play. There may be a couple of differences that include a little different pitching arc and a 3-2 count. Your team will be able to earn points toward tournaments through league play.

What about tournaments at Roy Morse Park?
USSSA conducts more successful adult slow pitch tournaments than any other sanction in the state. You can get berths at one of the many tourneys held or obtain points to go to a state or national tournament. They have a traveling fund that is accessible to teams that qualify. USSSA has an excellent method of classifying teams and changing classifications quickly if needed. The number of tournaments held locally should not change much and the cost is expected to remain about the same.

Who will run adult softball in Longview & Kelso?
The Parks and Recreation Department will conduct the adult softball programs with a professional full time sports coordinator. This adult softball coordinator will be trained by USSSA to be a certified league and tournament director. This individual will also run other sports programs in our community.

    What about umpires?
USSSA provides an officials certification program that will provide us with quality umpires. The regional director and umpire in chief from Olympia will assist in training, coordinating and scheduling the umpires this season.

    Is there any insurance?
USSSA has liability and medical insurance available for teams.
