  • Social Club

    Social Club is a program for adults 18 & over who are developmentally delayed and would like to meet new people for lots of fun and social interaction. We offer a variety of special activities, educational opportunities, events, free snacks, a place to socialize, and those monthly dances! This is a great place to come hang out, meet new friends, and see the old ones! A registration form must be completed. Limited transportation is provided. Call 442-5400 to discuss transportation options.

    Age: 18 & over
    Day: Sat
    Time: 2:30 - 5:00 pm
    Location: Elks Building, 2121 Kessler Blvd.
    All dances held at the Woman’s Club, 835 21st Ave.

    June 14 - Ahoy Dancers! Enjoy a treasure hunt & dance like a Pirate. $4
    June 21 - Bingo & June Birthdays
    June 28 - Craft - Kite & Genealogy
    July 5 - Proud to be an American Dance. $4
    July 12 - Make your own Mr. Potato Head
    July 19 - Teddy Bear Parade & July Birthdays (Bring your favorite stuffed animal)
    July 26 - Celebrate the Rodeo Dress like a cowfolk, visit with a horse, & watch a rodeo on the big screen
    August 2 - Dinosaur Stomp (dance) & Dig for Fossils. $4
    August 9 - Learn to write thank you cards
    August 16 - Safety guests & August birthdays
    August 23 - Good Deed Day
    August 30 - Poker Walk


    Special Olympics of Longview-Kelso

    Longview Parks & Recreation sponsors the local Special Olympic Program, which serves developmentally disabled individuals in our community. There are over 150 athletes involved in sports year round. This is a free program. If you or someone you know would like to be involved as a participant or volunteer, please call the recreation offi ce at 442-5400. All athletes must have a valid Washington Special Olympics physical of fi le with the recreation offi ce in order to participate. We hope to see all of our great athletes again this season as we go for the gold!


    Special Olympics Softball

    This will be the first meeting and sign up night for everyone who is interested in playing this summer. The season practice schedule will be determined at this meeting. Bring your glove and gear since this will be a practice.

    Special Olympics Golf

    Our second year of offering this great sport. Come out and take a swing at golf. All equipment provided. No experience necessary.

    Special Olympic Coaches Needed

    Special Olympics is always looking for dedicated individuals who would like to share their time and talents with our hard working athletes. Must be 18 years of age to volunteer. Call 442-5407.
