    Licensed Summer Kids at Northlake

    Join us for a Safe And Fun Experience this summer! Our SAFE Playground Adventure will include our traditional recreational activities like arts and crafts, sports, games, guest speakers and special events. A summer registration form must be completed prior to attending. Free USDA lunch is provided. Children attending this program must provide immunization records to meet state licensing requirements.

    Taekwondo, Beginning & Intermediate

    Classes are designed so the entire family can enjoy martial arts and spend quality time together, get in shape, learn positive thinking and self-defense. This is continuous training for white belts (beginners) to black belts. Uniforms are available to purchase. Information on belt testing provided during sessions.

    Kayaking, Beginning

    Learn basic safety and paddling techniques and spend time kayaking Lake Sacajawea. Kayaks provided, some life jackets provided or bring your own. Participants age 13 and under must register with an adult.

    Hiking the Great Northwest

    Learn the essentials of wilderness hiking by classroom orientation and ‘on the trail’ experience. The course covers preparation (boots, clothing, essential supplies & food), trail skills (compass & map reading), and hazards (insects, plants & water crossings). Saturday hike included, location and exact date will be discussed and decided on at class. Hikes are on easy to medium class trails (3 to 5 miles with 500 to 1000 feet elevation). Ages 16 and under must register with an adult.

    Mother & Son Outdoor Adventure

    Don’t miss the 6th annual Mother and Son Outdoor Adventure. Mothers and sons of all ages and activity levels will enjoy experiencing a variety of outdoor adventure activities together. Activities will include the rock wall, archery, obstacle course, catapult, fi shing, kayaking, pellet shooting range, canoeing and wood working. Door prizes will be given away and each son will receive a gift. Refreshments will be served. Pictures with the Mariner Moose will be available for an extra charge. Sponsors include ACE hardware, Bob’s Sporting Goods, Cowlitz Game and Anglers, Lewis and Clark Bowmen, Southwest Washington Canoe Club, Boy Scouts of America.

    5th Annual Archie’s Celebration of Hoops 3 on 3 tournament

    This basketball tournament in honor of Archie Anderson benefi ts the Highlands Activities and Beautification Committee. This event will once again be a fun and enjoyable two day event of basketball. Other fun events and contests will take place with awards given. All registered participants receive a t-shirt. Registration forms available at Longview Recreation, YMCA, Police Satellite Office and local schools. For more information, call Steve Ross at 957-3019.

    Free Family Fishing Day

    This event coincides with the free fishing weekend that is state wide. Throughout the state of Washington, fi shing is free for all ages including adults. You do not need a fishing license to come down to Martin’s Dock and take advantage of free fi shing weekend with your family. On Saturday only, we will have rods and gear and bait. Each youth participant receives free fishing literature and handouts. Other lakes and bodies of water could have restrictions for this weekend; check your local license dealers for information and regulations.
