Education & Activity
First Aid Students learn emergency response skills, rescue breathing, and ways to prevent and care for choking, wounds, nosebleeds, falls and animal bites. Student also learn leadership skills and safe and responsible home alone skills. The Red Cross certifi ed instructors make the camp a fun and educational experience. Bring a sack lunch. Class is held on a No School Day.
Age: 8 - 12 Future Little Doctor Learn how the human body works. Participants will learn everything from bones, joints, and muscles to proper nutrition & exercise. Class is full of hands on learning, and lots of fun for all future doctors!
Age: 7 - 12 Future Little Scientists Create fizzing, bubbling, sticky creations using chemistry, basic geology and physics experiments. Full of experiments and loads of fun for all future scientists!
Age: 5 - 9 Jr. Chef Academy Participate in a fun-filled and creative cooking class which features snacks, & easy meals, just in time for the holidays. Nutritious snacks are created and sampled by the class. Participants bring home recipes and entertaining ideas to try at home.
Age: 5 - 8 Kids’ Garage Sale Reservations are now being taken for booth space for our Kids’ Garage Sale. Children will learn the pros and cons of entrepreneurship by renting a booth space to sell their gently used children’s items such as clothes, books, toys, CD’s and DVD’s. The sale is open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the McClelland Art Center.
Age: 5 - 18 Lego Adventures Have fun using Lego elements and learning building techniques. Engage in a wide range of modeling, architectural and engineering activities while learning about mathematics, physics and communications.
Age: 6 - 12 Manners Matter, Beginning This is a lighthearted and interactive class that will reinforce and teach common courtesy. Topics include proper introductions, polite conversation, table manners, restaurant rules, setting the table, telephone skills, thank you notes, and host & guest skills. Supply fee will cover formal dinner at last class.
Age: 6 - 12 $12 supply fee due to instructor at first class. Safe on My Own Children will learn how to handle being home alone, including basic first aid training, personal safety, internet safety, how to respond to strangers at the door or over the phone, and sibling care. Classes are co-sponsored with the American Red Cross. Class is held on a No School Day.
Age: 8 - 12 Art & Enrichment Painting, Beginning Learn basic acrylic painting techniques. Participants will learn how to shade, layout a design, with the focus on animals. Class supplies are covered by supply fee.
Age: 6 - 12 $10 supply fee due at first class. Ceramics 101 Have fun stimulating your imagination while painting a project of your choice. Participants will make a project each week & learn glazing & acrylic techniques. Supplies provided.
Age: 7 - 12 Design a Teddy Bear Workshop Come to this one day workshop to design a teddy bear complete with all accessories. This workshop is for participants of all sewing experience levels. Bring a sack lunch. Supply list available upon registration. Class held on No School day.
Age: 7 - 12 Jewelry & Beading Have you ever dreamed of designing your own jewelry line? Participants will learn the techniques needed to make necklaces, earrings, bracelets and anklets. All levels are welcome. Class supplies are covered by supply fee.
Age: 7 - 12 $8 supply fee due at first class. Future Little Artist Travel with me under the sea. Basic art skills will be taught by fun ocean creatures. Participants will learn how to use watercolors, pastels, pencils and paint. Join us while we make several art projects, explore the ocean fl oor and have fun. Class supplies are covered by supply fee.
Age: 5 - 8 $8 supply fee due at fi rst class. Wizards Magic School Kids will learn amazing magic tricks from a professional magician. Soon things will appear & disappear at their will. This class will teach up close magic that will amaze friends and family. A performance will be held on the last day.
Age: 6 - 12 $10 supply fee due at first class. Health & Activity Tap Dance Come learn the basic dance steps and motions of tap dancing! Learn combinations, improve coordination & fi tness. Please wear comfortable clothing. Please bring tap shoes.
Age: 5 - 6 Baton Basics Come learn the basics of baton and hoop learning technique and skills while increasing their grace, self esteem, and confi dence in a positive and productive way. Please bring your own baton, hoop, water bottle, and dress comfortable.
Age: 5 & over Bowling, Beginning Learn proper bowling skills and meet other bowlers. Fee includes professional instruction, equipment, shoes, and two or more games of bowling each day.
Age: 7 - 12 Cheerleading Calling all future and current cheerleaders! Learn formations and new dance routines, as well as cheers and chants in a fun, and inviting atmosphere. Participants should wear flat-soled tennis shoes, dress comfortably, bring a water bottle, and your own pom-poms.
Age: 7 - 12 Golf Lessons This is a great class for beginning golfers or for those who have not had lessons on proper golf swing techniques. All equipment and balls provided. Instructor is a P.G.A. Professional with many years of teaching lessons. Sign up at Longview Parks & Recreation Office, 2920 Douglas Street.
Age: 9 - 13 Kung Fu Lessons This is a fast-paced class for boys and girls. Introduce your child to the positive benefits of Kung Fu. Self-discipline, confi dence, coordination, strength, fitness and flexibility will be developed. Participants will also learn to listen and achieve goals as well as how to deal with conflict in a non-violent way.
Age: 6 - 13 Cheerleading Clinic Learn the newest trends in cheerleading today. Please bring your own pompoms, wear flat-soled tennis shoes, dress comfortably, and bring a water bottle. Classes are held on No School days.
Age: 8 - 12 Horsemanship, Beginning Enjoy games and exercise while learning English riding skills that build confidence. Expert instruction is provided in basic horsemanship including safety, rules, grooming and tacking. Participants must wear riding shoes or shoes with a heel. Class will be held in an arena either indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather.
Age: 7 - 15 Hula Dance Discover the various types of Hawaiian dance. We will cover basic foot and hand motions, and learn a complete choreographed dance. Please wear comfortable clothes. Family combo’s are welcome!
Age: 4 & over Out of School SUPER STARS Join us for Supervised Play, Education and Recreation during out-of-school hours when school is in session. The SUPER Stars adventures include arts and crafts, games, sports, guest speakers and special events. The school district provides a federally subsidized snack.
