The mission of the K9 Unit is to aid in locating people and/or evidence at or near crime scenes. Another function of the K9 unit is to provide backup and support for line officers when practical.
Generally, the K9 Unit is used to enhance the capabilities of Patrol and other line units at a crime scene. Longview Police department's K9 Unit also assists other agencies in southwest Washington and northwest Oregon when needed.
