Longview has a Crime Analysis Unit (CAU) staffed by one crime analyst. The CAU assists all divisions of the department in the following ways:
- Providing strategic information to the police administration, local planners, and members of the community
- Providing tactical information to the officers and civilian investigators of the Longview Police Department
- Assisting Longview Police Department employees with day to day technology needs
