The Project

The project aims to convert the Beech St and 30th Ave corridor into a complete street corridor from Washington Way to Oregon Way. The City will reconfigure the existing roadway striping and add buffered bike lanes.


Project Funding

This project is funded by the Transportation Alternatives program through the Federal Highway Administration. More information about the funding program can be found on the Federal Highway Administration website.

Project Updates

      • Staff presented concepts to the Complete Streets Advisory Committee at their meeting on August 23, 2022. The Advisory Committee discussed the corridor at their meetings and advised on the preferred alternative concept.   See meeting packet and minutes.
      • Staff prepared preliminary design plans based on the preferred concept selected by the Complete Streets Advisory Committee. The preliminary plans were delivered to the Committee and to the internal staff review team in March 2023.
      • April 2023 - Staff is refining the design plans and specifications based on feedback from the Committee and staff.
      • August 2023 - Staff is preparing final design and requesting construction phase authorization from WSDOT.
      • November 2023 - City received construction authorization from WSDOT and will be advertising the project for bid. The City plans to construct in Summer 2024. Bid documents will be available from BXWA.
