July 11 City Council Meeting in brief

  • Presented a certificate of appreciation to Lindsey Cope for organizing The Great Race stop in Longview on June 29.
  • Presented a certificate of appreciation to Arlene Hubble for her organizing efforts for the Go Fourth Festival.
  • Issued a proclamation for Parks and Recreation Month – July 2019.
  • Directed staff to prepare an ordinance allowing residents to request and pay for removal of an existing qualifying City street tree and planting a new street tree.
  • Adopted Ordinance No. 3396 amending LMC Chapter 16.32 regarding unfit structures and premises.
  • Approved Resolution No. 2304 amending the City’s utility rate reduction program for low-income seniors and disabled citizens to adjust income thresholds and include transitional housing providers as eligible for rate reductions.
  • Appointed committee members to prepare For and Against statements regarding the West Longview annexation for inclusion in the voter’s guide.
  • Approved the 2019-2021 Amalgamated Transit Union Local 758 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Adopted Ordinance No. 3404 vacating three sections of unimproved right of way abutting Cowlitz County property.
  • Approved Resolution No. 2305 authorizing the sale of a City-owned abandoned railway corridor.
  • Awarded roof replacement contracts to WeatherGuard in the amount $325,333.44 for the City Hall roof and $255,433.81 for the Station 81 roof, effective July 28, 2019.
  • Authorized submitting a Longview Police Dept grant application to the Office of Justice for a victim advocate program.
