On November 13 at 6:00 p.m. the Longview Public Library will host filmmaker Ron Walker in the Library Auditorium for a night of free entertainment. Ron will be showing two original films about the history of Astoria: “An Afternoon with Liisa Penner, Archivist, Clatsop County Historical Society,” (36 minutes) and “Astoria in the 1950’s with Liisa Penner” (11 minutes).
The first film will feature Liisa Penner (historian) telling amusing, shocking, and true stories of Astoria’s past. Historical photos, news clippings, and museum displays will help illustrate Liisa’s narrative. The second film will take a walk through Astoria during the 1950’s as Liisa gives her eye witness account of growing up there, riding on the ferries, and working in the Koffee Kup restaurant that her mother owned during that time.
