On Friday November 22, the Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) awarded the City of Longview a grant for $3,099,544.00. The City also was previously awarded $695,775 of federal STP funding from the Cowlitz Wahkiakum Council of Governments.
This project will reconstruct 46th Avenue to include curb, gutter, sidewalks and bike lanes, as well as a travel-way for cars. The street profile will be lowered selectively to eliminate hazardous slopes, will be built to the City’s standard depth roadway section, and include a modern stormwater system. Additionally, the project will replace the existing 46th Avenue bridge over the CDID cutoff slough with a culvert or multi-plate arch. Existing water and sewer main lines will be replaced.
Design will start in January and construction should be completed in 2022.
