December 5 Council Meeting in brief

  • Issued a proclamation for Longview Salvation Army Red Kettle Day, December 2, 2019.
  • Approved Ordinance No. 3414 amending the LMC regarding the Business and Occupation Tax.
  • Approved Ordinance No. 3416 authorizing a franchise agreement and master license agreement with Verizon Wireless to install small cell wireless communication system equipment in City right of way.
  • Received the first reading of Ordinance No. 3418 amending the 2019-2020 Biennial Budget. This ordinance will be voted on at the December 19 special city council meeting.
  • Approved Ordinance No. 3419 amending the LMC to raise the cold weather temperature threshold for declaration of a severe weather event allowing temporary housing for homeless during the event.
  • Approved Resolution No. 2316 adopting Water utility rates.
  • Approved Resolution No. 2317 adopting Solid Waste and Recycling utility rates.
  • Resolution No. 2318 adopting Stormwater utility rates failed due to the lack of a motion.
  • Certified as complete the 8th/9th Avenue Alleyway Water and Sewer Replacement Project.
  • Approved renewal of the city manager’s employment contract.
  • Authorized Amendment No. 6 to the contract with Waste Control for solid waste and recycling collection and disposal services.
  • Adopted the City’s 2020 state legislative agenda.
  • Authorized a contract with PBS Engineering and Environmental in the amount of $33,700 to prepare a local road safety plan.
