Temporary storage of abandoned motorhomes/recreational vehicles

Our community has seen a significant increase of abandoned motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheel trailers, etc. on our streets. The police department understands the desire of the citizens to have motorhomes/recreational vehicles removed from the streets. The department has worked with local tow companies regarding the removal of the vehicles; however, we have been limited to the frequency of towing due to a lack of storage capacity.

The police department has collaborated with Carl’s Towing for the removal of these motorhomes and recreational vehicles. Effective, May 12, 2022, the department will be working with Carl’s Towing to tow and temporarily store the motorhomes and recreational vehicles to the City of Longview property located at 101 Fishers Lane. The motorhomes and recreational vehicles will remain at the location for the duration of the abandoned vehicle process, which typically averages 30 days. There will not be any access to the site by the public.

The motorhome/recreational vehicle will then be removed from the site to be dismantled. The Longview Police Department appreciates the partnership with Carl’s Towing to remove these abandoned motorhomes/recreational vehicles from the streets. We appreciate the community’s patience as we tackle this growing problem.
