City of Longview welcomes Dana Gigler as new City Attorney

The City of Longview is pleased to announce that Dana Gigler will be joining the executive team as the new City Attorney, beginning September 5, 2023. Dana brings over 15 years of legal experience including code enforcement, contracts, employment matters, public records and open government. She replaces Jim McNamara, who retired July 31, 2023.

Dana has a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from North Carolina State University, and a Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law. She comes to us as an Assistant Attorney General at the Washington Office of the Attorney General and was one of three Cowlitz County Civil Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys for nine years prior.

“It is an honor to be selected to serve as Longview's next City Attorney and to return to the community where I have spent most of my legal career,” says Gigler. “I look forward to this challenging and rewarding opportunity to provide legal guidance on issues that directly impact the lives of the citizens of Longview.”

“I am excited to add Dana to the City of Longview executive team as our City Attorney,” says City Manager Kris Swanson. “Her commitment to public service and experience in municipal law will be an invaluable combination for the city. Given her experience and working relationships with local community leaders and elected officials, she was a natural fit for this position. I am confident that the city will be well represented with Dana and look forward to working with her in this role.”
