Photo Contest Winners Announced for Longview Historic Preservation Month Photo Contest

The City of Longview Historic Preservation Commission is pleased to announce the winners of its Historic Preservation Month photo contest.

In the adult division, Kayla Oskey's photo of the Monticello Hotel took top honors. Kayla, a 2019 graduate of Grand Canyon University, submitted this photograph after taking it for a recent class, remarking that "Nothing represents history here more than the Monticello." Honorable mentions go to Mai Ding, MD, and Erlyn Sweitzer.

Kylee Newman's photo of the Longview Community Church bells won the grades 6-12 division. Kylee is a student at R.A. Long High School, and entered the contest for a class. Honorable mentions are Zoey Shine and Angelina Chy.

The commission wishes to thank everyone who participated in the contest this year. "We applaud the creativity and effort of the winners, and appreciated all of our entrants engaging with Longview's historic places through the medium of photography," said Cam Hanna, chair of the Historic Preservation Commission.

The public is invited to see the winning and honorable mention photos. They will be displayed at City Hall during Historic Preservation Month, May 2019.
