May 23 City Council Meeting in brief

  • Received an update on Highlands Neighborhood Association activities.
  • Issued a proclamation for Historic Preservation Month – May 2019.
  • Received an update on the recent homeless camp clean up event along Westside Highway north of Fishers Lane.
  • Approved Ordinance No. 3401 vacating a 100-foot wide strip of unimproved right of way off of California Way near 7th Avenue in Assessor Plat No. 5.
  • The mayor appointed a council committee to plan the City’s Centennial Celebration.
  • Awarded a contract in the amount of $208,206.22 to Nutter Corporation to replace water and sewer mains in the alley between 8th Ave and 9th Ave south of Florida.
  • Set a public hearing for the regular city council meeting on June 13 to consider the proposed 2020 to 2025 Six Year Transportation Improvement Program (T.I.P.).
  • Approved Resolution No. 2299 authorizing an interlocal agreement the State of Washington Department of Enterprise Services for auctioning of surplus vehicles, equipment, and             other property.
  • Set a public hearing for the regular city council meeting on June 13 to consider funding allocations for the 2019 Community Development Block Grant, HOME, and Document           Recording Fee programs.
  • Received a report on 2018 building, planning, and solid waste/recycling activities performed by the Community Development Department.
  • Received a review of the General Fund financial status for the first quarter of 2019.
